NEW ISSUE ALERT — NESIR 9 | October 2025
DOSSIER: “Mimesis in Philosophy and Literature: Representation, Truth, and Meaning”
Nesir: Journal of Literary Studies is proud to present its ninth issue, bringing together scholars from seven countries across three continents, in a wide-ranging reflection on mimesis, one of the most persistent and transformative concepts in the history of aesthetics.
The dossier features eleven research articles that revisit mimesis across philosophy and literature, moving from the classical theories of Plato and Aristotle through the speculative ontology of Graham Harman to the modern and contemporary works of Melih Cevdet Anday, Edith Sitwell, Margaret Atwood, and Elif Shafak. Alongside the dossier, five additional off-topic research articles further expand the journal’s critical scope, bringing the total number of research papers in this issue to sixteen—ten in English and six in Turkish.
These studies span ancient metaphysics, Islamic Platonism, modern realism, and feminist or posthumanist reconfigurations of imitation, revealing how mimesis continues to shape thought and representation. Beyond the research section, the issue also includes three translated texts, one critical essay, and six book reviews of recently published academic works.
With this issue, Nesir invites readers to join a continuing dialogue between philosophy and literature, where the question of mimesis opens toward broader inquiries into art, truth, and form. To read the newest issue of Nesir, go visit our website: nesirdergisi.com!
